Is there a residency requirement?

Yes. Applicants must be a U.S. citizen and be a bona fide resident of Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa, or Walton Counties in Northwest Florida.

Do I need to be a student at Pensacola State College to be eligible?

No. Pensacola State College provides administrative support to the Fellows Foundation, but scholarship recipients may study at any accredited school in the appropriate field of study.

How much funding am I allowed to request from the Fellows Foundation?

A one-year scholarship is available to qualified students. Scholarship funds are awarded to cover tuition, fees, and/or books. The scholarship amount will depend on the award amount authorized each academic year by the Fellows Foundation Trustees. Amounts will be determined by the needs of the applicant and will vary depending on the program.

How are the scholarship funds disbursed?

Scholarship funds are authorized for one academic year beginning with the Fall semester. The Fiscal Agent sends the scholarship funds to the college who will make disbursement to the student on semester-by-semester basis - Fall, Spring, and/or Summer.

Is there an application deadline?

Yes, there is an application deadline. Applications and all supporting documentation must be received by the appropriate deadline.

Applications are accepted on or before May 1.

How long am I eligible for scholarship funding?

A student may continue to receive their funds from one semester to the next if he/she is actively enrolled in an appropriate field of study at the accredited university and is maintaining the appropriate grade point average.

If my enrollment or GPA falls below the minimum requirement, can I reinstate my scholarship?

These situations are reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Depending on the circumstances, the student will be notified what information and documentation would be required to submit to submit to the Consultant and Executive Director and Trustees to request the reinstatement of the scholarship

How will I know if you received my application?

We acknowledge receipt of every application by U.S. mail, email or phone.

How will I be notified as to whether I received the scholarship?

For those applicants selected to receive the scholarship, you will receive an email followed by a more detailed letter providing more detailed information and instructions to accept the scholarship

For those applicants not selected, you will receive a letter via U.S. mail.

If approved, when can I expect to receive the scholarship?

Scholarship funds are disbursed on a semester-by-semester basis. Scholarship funds are sent to the college by the Fiscal Agent. The school may not disburse funds any earlier than the first day of classes for each semester of enrollment. No funds are to be disbursed directly to the student.
