Application

The Trustees of the J. Hugh & Earle W. Fellows Foundation made arrangements with the Office of the President of Pensacola State College to serve as the Educational Consultant for the Fund. The Executive Director will process scholarship applications, serve as liaison with the colleges and schools to which a recipient attends, and assist with the all other aspects of the Fund. Scholarship funds are disbursed and  administered by Fiscal Agent, Saltmarsh, Cleaveland, & Gund.

Dr. and Mrs. Fellows created this fund to assist deserving and qualified individuals in pursuit of their education in the fields of medicine, nursing, medical technology, and the ministry. Scholarships to ministerial students are limited to those of the Episcopal faith and others whose religion beliefs are not in substantial conflict with the faith and doctrines of the Episcopal Church.


Scholarship Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must be a bona fide resident of Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa, or Walton County, Florida.
  • Must be of good moral character and qualified scholastically and intellectually for the education desired.
  • Must have a minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA in academic coursework.
  • Must be accepted by, or be successfully pursuing training at, an accredited college in the appropriate field of study.

Number of Awards:

The number of scholarships awarded will vary each academic year depending on the award amount authorized by the Fellows Foundation Trustees.

Length of Award:

The scholarship is authorized for one academic year (Fall, Spring, and/or Summer).

2027-2028 Award Amount:

Up to $15,000 per year, Medicine/Physician Assistant

Up to $10,000 per year, Health Care Related Programs

Up to $5,000 per year, Nursing

Enrollment Requirement:

Full-time enrollment:   12 credits or more per term.

Part-time enrollment:   minimum of 3 credits to 11 credits per term.

Selection Made by:

Ranked recommendations from the Consultant and Executive Director will be sent by June 1 to the Fellows Foundation Trustees for their review and final selection. Final selection by the Trustees will be made by July 1.

Application Deadline:

May 1: Applications will be accepted beginning in January and up to the May 1 deadline.


Application Procedures, Deadlines and Required Documents

Complete the Fellows Foundation Scholarship Application and submit it along with the additional required documents.

Applications are accepted between January 1 to May 1. Deadline: May 1

Additional documents required (must be submitted by the deadline):

  1. Acceptance Letter: A copy of the acceptance letter from the college or health care program for which you will be or are currently attending for purposes of this scholarship.
  2. Transcript: Official copy of college transcript from college currently attending OR from the college most recently attended, or from the college from which you received your highest college degree.
  3. Recommendation Letters: Two (2) confidential letters of recommendation addressed to the Fellows Foundation Board of Trustees. These letters must be:
    1. on official business letterhead stationery
    2. Signed by your academic counselor, faculty advisor, coach, administrator, employer, minister to include information about your academics, achievements, potentialities, personality characteristics and current enrollment status.
    4. Letters can be uploaded with your application and other required documents OR author can send them directly to the Executive Director.
  4. Cost of Attendance: Copy of the Cost of Attendance (COA) provided by the college and/or program of study.
  5. Statement of Need: A statement, not exceeding 500 words, outlining your reasons for choosing a medical program as a vocation. Include your reason(s) for requesting financial assistance.

    6. Submit required documents through the online application portal at FellowsFund.org/apply.
    Documents unable to be submitted online should be mailed or emailed no later than May 1 to:
